The moon is a big, round, yellow ball hanging in the sky. It's so bright, it shines even when the sun is asleep. Today is Mid-Autumn Festival, and the moon is extra special. Mom says it’s a "harvest moon," like a giant golden coin, celebrating the end of summer and all the yummy food we've grown.
I love Mid-Autumn Festival. Mooncakes are everywhere, like little mountains of sweet, sticky happiness. I can't wait to eat mine! Dad says he'll tell me a story about Chang'e, the beautiful lady who lives on the moon with her pet rabbit.
The lanterns in the park are twinkling, like tiny fireflies, and the air smells like sweet grass and burning incense. My friends and I are running around, chasing each other and laughing until our tummies hurt. We're playing a game where we hide behind the trees and try to catch
each other by the moonlight. It's like being in a magical dream!
I wish we could fly to the moon tonight. Maybe we could visit Chang'e and tell her all about our festival. She'd be happy to know we're all celebrating together under the moon, sharing stories and yummy mooncakes.
Even though it's already dark, I know the moon will keep shining brightly, watching over us all. Maybe it's wishing us a happy Mid-Autumn Festival too!
