A story about a new boy.
Tom is new in the city. He doesn’t know the way to the restrooms.
What should he do?

Girl:  Sorry. I can’t help you.
Tom:  Hey! Where are the restrooms?
Girl:  Sure. Go along Main Street. The restrooms are beside the bank.

通过讲述一个新人Tom的故事,来导入如何有礼貌的问路。

Presentation
1a (words and phrases)
1. The teacher shows some pictures and asks the students to guess the words such as:restroom, bathroom, stamp, beside, postcard, bookstore etc.
2. The teacher shows some pictures and asks the students to understand and memorize the phrases about these places, such as: have dinner, get some money, get a pair of shoes, get some magazines, get some information about the town, get a dictionary, buy some stamps etc.
3. Where can you do the following things? Match each thing with a place in the picture.(1a)
通过图片呈现和操练生词和短语,为听力部分做好充分准备,提高听力效率。

Listening practice and pair work(1b, 1c)

1. The teacher leads the students to understand the requests of 1b, then play the tape for the students, after listening, the students check the answers, if there are disagreements, the whole class discuss together.
2. Listen again and fill in the blanks. The teacher plays the tape for the students again. After listening, check the answers in the blanks.
3. Pair wok: Make conversations with the map above. Make conversations with the map and the important words and phrases of 1a and 1c.
4. Directions summary. Make a summary of the important words about directions.
通过听听力两遍,完成相关任务,来熟悉该部分重点句型。并通过情境设计对话巩固该部分的重点短语句型等知识点。

Listening practice and pair work

1. Before listening about 2a, let the students look at the pictures and be familiar with them, the teacher can ask these questions to lead them:
What place does the picture show?
What shops can we see in picture?
How many floors can we see in the picture?
If I want to buy .., what shop should I go to? And how can I get there?
2. Listen to the tape twice, finish 2a and 2b, and then the students check the answers together.
3.Listen again and fill in the blanks.
4. Pair wok: Make conversations about the other places in the picture in 2a.
听2a 2b以前,仔细观察图片中,每个场所的位置,为听力做好充分准备。并通过听力填词,加以巩固重点词汇和短语。通过看图设计对话来对该部分知识点加以巩固吸收。

1. Group work: The teacher shows up a map of his way to school, then the teacher ask the students: Could you please tell me how to get to school ? let the students describe the map for us and the students can write it on notebook first.
