Is fame something you will strive to seek?
We live in a culture obsessed with the doings of famous people. Celebrities are shining and their life seems so perfect, so everybody wants to be them. But for me, fame is not a thing I will strive to seek.
First of all, you have to know that fame is different from success. Fame doesn’t mean a lot to your life. Except worshipping fans and countless paparazzi, you won’t get anything valuable. Take a look at Paris Hilton’s messy life, and you will understand what I mean. In most situations, you will get annoyed and bored in the end because your life is totally a reality show. The feeling is absolutely the same with The Truman Showworshipping. You are not who you really are any more. Just like many celebrities said, they preferred a normal and peaceful life. But most of us won’t understand that unless we have the same experience.
Success means I am approved, no matter by myself or by the rest of the world. It means that I am up to some standards. My existence makes sense. But fame can’t give me the same feeling.
In fact, fame is a belly fat for me. First, I don’t want to lose my privacy, and I don’t need public attention or to be the cover girl. Then I have to say I enjoy my life as a normal girl now. I can go for a walk with my family anytime I want; my boyfriend can take me to anywhere, and I don’t need to worry about my clothes and makeups every day. I am totally free and comfortable.
Secondly, the process of seeking fame is much harder than you can imagine. You have to endure a lot of pressure and pain. You can’t stop; you need to run, run much faster than others. You also need to beat unnumbered competitors, and you must be the best. You have to fight for your status just like a lion fight for his manor. It’s hard to remain on the top all the time.
I don’t think fame is worth the endeavor. I can gain great achievement in other fields. Doesn’t that mean more? I once thought to be a singer is a wonderful thing. They have countless fans and they are always the center of the world. But when I grew older, I realized that is a gloss. The truth is they are just some poor idols. They keep wearing mask
s and they have to pretend to be what the public think they should be. How mournful it is when you can’t be yourself.
So I’m glad to be who I am and I will always be. As to fame, all I can say is: “It’s none of my business.”
