英语多“变”
汉语的“变”在英语中有许多种翻译方法，现归纳如下；
Don’t take the lift, as the lift may become trapped between floors.
He went to university and became a doctor.
但become of是习语，常跟what与whatever连用，表示某人某事发生什么情况（一般为不好的），例如：
What was to become of them all, he wondered.
2．get是比较随便的日常用词，只能跟形容词，且多为比较级和最高级，例如：
The weather gets warmer and warmer and the days get longer.
3．grow含有“渐渐成为”的意思，着重渐变化的过程，一般只跟形容词，可以跟比较级连用，例如：
My father has grown older and older.
It is growing dark.
4．turn侧重于变得跟以前完全不同，常用于表示变得差或坏起来的场合，多强调客观或者外界作用，后跟形容词或名词，跟名词时通常不用限定词，例如：
Mr. Black’s face slowly turned red.
He’ll never turn traitor (叛徒) to his country.
My father wanted me to be/become a doctor but I turned teacher later.
5．change 强调因人为因素或主观作用而产生变化，常与into连用，常跟名词而不跟形容词，例如：
Can you change this sentence into English?
The state of water will change if heated.
6．go常表示由好变坏，接whatever什么意思mad、blind、green、sour和bad等形容词，例如：
The little boy’s eyes went blind in the accident.
The soup has gone sour and can’t be eaten.
7．run只有少数的一些搭配，如dry、wet、deep或short例如：
The pencil runs shorter and shorter day by day.
8．come作为“变”的意思时只有一个形容词true与它搭配，例如：
My dream has come true and I will become an engineer.
